How to stop binge eating /ana/mia

I am going to focus on how to stop binge eating disorder since this has been the thing that has given me the most trouble. Nevertheless, I believe that the principles I suggest here, can also help girls with anorexia who have problems to eat more since the objective is the same:

Reach a point where you feel comfortable, of eating the amount of food your body needs. No more, no less.

Eating following your hunger cues and stopping when you are satisfied has to be as natural as breathing, as habitual as taking a shower everyday, as satisfying as receiving a gift, as comfortable as your favorite shoes, as...ok I think you got my point ;)

It has to become something you "just do".

If you get to feel happy by eating correctly, you will tend to get this as an habit since we tend to repeat the actions that make us happy.

The problem is, that currently you feel comfortable either binging or starving. It is almost like a need. Whenever you try to take yourself out of that comfort zone (by eating more or less, depending on your case), anxiety arises and you rapidly look for ways to go back to your comfort zone.

When you eat like this, it is your emotional state and not your hunger cues that regulate the way you eat.

Our purpose is to change that, and here, I suggest you a way of doing so, by consciously changing how/what you think about food and regulating how much time you think about food.
